We have started a new series at Cornerstone called “He still has the whole world in His hands.”
We realize that in the current state our economy is in that it can be taxing physically, mentally, emotionally and especially spiritually. In America we tend to think that if we have things, money, and possessions that we are living a blessed life or that God is blessing us. America has been a prosperous nation because of the unique blessing that God has given us, but things and money are not all of God’s blessings. We should not focus on those, but focuses on the fruit that we are suppose to possess. In Galatians we find the fruit of the spirit. We are to have all, not just some. We do not get to pick one and leave the others out; we are to have them all. The financial belt in America is being tightened; however, that does not mean that God is not blessing, or that He has lost His grip on the world.
In times of plenty and in times of want He is still in control. No matter the news that you have been given, God cares and loves you, and wants you to look to Him.
We have been programmed to think that the life the God of the Bible wants us to live is impossible, and that God is god that is going to strike us down when we do not live up to the impossible standard. This is not the case. He is a God of reconciliation and a God of hope.
In the movie “Batman Begins” there is a line in that movie that says this “we fall down so that we can learn to get back up” The reason that Jesus died on the cross was so those who have fallen (sinned) which is everyone (except Jesus), so that we could get back up. This “Christian Life” is a learning process, which teaches us that when we fall we do not have to stay down, but we can learn to get back up and stay up.
We invite you to walk with us in this journey, of trusting that God still does have the whole world in His hands.

Hi Josh,
This is such a wonderful and important message. There is a song called “”We Fall Down” that says it all too. It’s funny, we know this information, we hear it in songs and in movies, yet we still forget in our time of need. How easily we wander away and then slip and fall. Even when I am reading my Bible “Religiously” and trying my best to walk the path I am called to walk, I still fall. Praise the Lord for our precious Savior who loves and forgives us. Thank God for you too. You are a blessing!
Sandy,
You are correct we know it, we hear it, but sometimes it just does not get applied. I love to play golf, I am not very good, but I like it. I know that I need to have a nice easy smooth swing and not try to kill the ball. I tell myself that all the way through my back swing but for some reason when I start the forward swing by the time it hits the ball I am trying to kill it. Even though I know better, I still want to do it my way. That works the same in our lives. We know, but we want to try it our way and God is so awesome that when we fall He picks up and teaches us how to get back up.
I thank God for the people at our church, we have good people. We are blessed with talent, and giving hearts. Thank you for your post.
Hi, there,
Just wanted to comment on everything that is going on with the world. We know God is still in control. We need to be obedient to Him. He gave man dominion over the earth, or in other words authority, and that we must pray the kingdom down to earth and we must believe all things are possible with God through our prayers, and faith ,and the mindset of our hearts. We must see it , believe it , and expect it with a renewing of our mindset of our heart. He tells us in his word what he wants for us, that we should prosper and have abundant life.
Our flesh is used as a vessel for Christ on this earth to do what he has called us to do. We need to believe, and then have thanksgiving in all things. We need to remember all the things and situations he has brought us through in our lives to this point and beyond and what he has done and what he has taught us through these things. I know I have learned to rely on Him and will continue to walk in accordance with the fruits of the Spirit and use all nine characteristics which are “gentleness, patience, faith, kindness, goodness, joy, love, peace, and self control, and I will continue to read God’s word and meditate on it each day and night. I will continue , and forevermore rely on Him. He is my savior,my redeemer. Praise His holy name ! JESUS! And I know if I do fall sometimes, he will pick me up, and dust me off, and say try again, because he loves me and he forgave me.
We need to remember there is power in our words and we need to speak positive. First we should go before God because without him we can do nothing. He is our source, our light. We will stay in the dark without our source, our light. We must let the Spirit lead us. We must humble ourselves before the Lord. I want to be what God has shown me I can be , and that I can take control of my life through Him for he is my source, my light. We want to attract others to the LIGHT by being like Him. We want to be Christ-like examples and share is love with all people. I believe if I keep confessing something in Jesus name and truly believe it,it will come to pass IF it is in line with God’s will and I am obedient.
I have discovered that if I do not give it to God first, whatever it may be, and I try to take care of the situation on my own it does not work out. That has been a hindrance of mine in the past, trying to jump ahead and take care of matters on my own, instead of waiting on the LORD.
Guess what? If we don’t give it to God first we usually learn the hard way that we should have brought it before the throne first. Again, we can do nothing without HIM. God does not promise that we want go through trials and tribulations, but he does promise he will be there with us to see us through in love, and comfort us, and give the only and true ultimate peace that only HE can deliver. LOVE TO YOU ALL. GOD BLESS.
Thank you for your replies. This is what we want to do generate discussion.
