Choosing Sides
Why is it that people, a majority of the time back the first person that tells them about a conflict? You would think that people would remember the old saying, “there are two sides to everything”, but they do not unless it is them being talked about. When a friend tells you something that another friend did, should you not have the responsibility to ask the other friends side of the story before you make any judgments. This seems logical, but it is rarely followed. I guess it is easier to show sympathy to the person who tells you first, than to question the real truth.
I think that it could be that we like the gossip so much that we choose not to investigate what the real reason behind the conflict or misunderstanding.
People only see the two sided scenario when they are the ones being talked about.
It would benefit the church as well as society as a whole, to not be so quick to think that you understand the story, but to treat all involved as equal and love them the same.

Well, put. The old adage is true…. “if it doesn’t make sense then it’s usually not true.”
In this day and age where actors and actresses are so predominant, they know their “status” can sway the most common of people. It’s no wonder that in our churches today we can see the same kind of “drama”.
We need to set ourselves apart from the world. Pray and ask the Lord to show us things through His eyes and in all situations. When we do we will begin to see things in a different light. His light.
Proverbs 6:16;19
(16) “There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to Him:
(19) …a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.”
We have the POWER and the duty as Christians to stop gossip.
Proverbs 17:9 tells us that “He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.”
Are you one that adds wood to the fire or do you allow the fire to go out?
Strife will cease if there’s no logs to burn.
May we come together and keep our eyes on the goal. There are lost souls who need the Lord and my desire is to be a vessel for the Lord to use me the way He sees fit.
